Jimena de la Frontera is a stunning and vibrant town in Cadiz province, Just outside of the border with Malaga municipality. Jimena has long been a getaway for ex-pats from many countries, and its impressive castle stands proudly at the top of the town with the village flowing down the hill from it. Jimena, located in an idyllic location with flat arable land around it perfect for agriculture and Equestrian activities, also backs on to a large national park which has one of the most significant cork oak forests in Europe. It has a river running passed that was well used in the 1800s and earlier both to power the forges of cannonball factories and for the transportation of resources. It’s also a 30-minute drive to the coast and 45 to Gibraltar airport. Jimena de la Frontera has many characterful properties from large stately homes, riads, and Boutique hotels to small and incredibly affordable traditional Andalusian townhouses. There is also a Train station not too far away in the satellite town of Los Angeles where you can travel from San roque to Granada and everywhere in between. New connections will soon facilitate easy travel to Malaga, Madrid and Barcelona are also very easy to access. So you have an incredibly charming village with a good population.
